CEO Interviewed: “Halong cleanup includes oil spill response as state prepares for evacuees to return.”

When Typhoon Halong brought severe flooding to Western Alaska, oil and gas spills occurred as containers were overturned and damaged. Chadux was called in by the U.S. Coast Guard to assist with cleanup and mitigation efforts in the community of Kipnuk.

“Our team of four has been deployed to help recover any spilled oil and mitigate potential spills,” said our President & CEO, Buddy Custard, in a recent interview with Alaska’s News Source.

Much of the spilled material was home heating oil and gasoline, which dissipated quickly due to the storm’s flooding and tides. Chadux's teams continues to work alongside the Coast Guard and local responders to create safe collection sites and prepare the area for winter.

Our thoughts are with the communities affected by this storm. The work here isn’t over. Western Alaska still needs our help, and we’re committed to being there every step of the way.
