Tabletop Exercise Support

Strengthening Spill Response Preparedness

In October and December, ACN participated in several tabletop exercises with vessel operators we support, reinforcing preparedness and coordination across a range of realistic spill scenarios. One exercise simulated a heavy fuel oil release from a cargo vessel in the Port of Alaska, while another involved a diesel fuel release from a tanker during lightering operations to a barge in Port Clarence, Alaska. Throughout each scenario, ACN provided oil spill response expertise and real-time logistical support, helping to ground the discussions in operational reality.

Sharing Practical Insight Through Industry-Led Exercises

Participation in industry-led exercises allows ACN to share practical insight into the complexities of oil spill response with members who may not routinely engage in spill response activities or serve on incident management teams. One of the exercises was conducted entirely in a virtual environment using a collaboration platform, demonstrating ACN’s ability to deliver subject-matter expertise and enhance realism and operational context even in a fully remote format.
